It was a great weekend. A diary worthy one in fact.

My little sister flew into PHL on late Thursday night for my brother's surprise party, so I was dragging a bit on Friday. She hung at my apartment while I was at work. My boss had been out on vacation all week, so it was all about getting stuff off of my desk at a nice leisurely pace. Not bad for a Friday at work, but thank god for red bull and monster energy drink.

Friday night, my sister and I went down to Old City to meet a few of her college friends. My one minor complaint was that parking was a pain as we got down there at 9pm and because of the traffic, couldn't get parked at that garage attached to the Ritz until 9:20 or so. The night was fun. Got to hang out with a few of my sister's friends from college at Cuba Libre and drank weak $9 mojitos. Cuba Libre is officially on my overhyped restaurant list.

Later that night, we went to the Plough and Stars - a restaurant turned into late night preppy bar complete with 80s music - and hooked up with a bunch of 25 year old boys (my sister's BFF 7 year roommate from college is dating one of them). I was told that I look 28 or so. These boys got on my good side fast. ;-)

The boys were cute and were enjoying their night out. Aside from them drinking crap beer and taking the occasional shot, they were very polite and made sure to talk to all of us. (I, however, nursed a Sierra Nevada) I was impressed and a little bummed that they were so young.

Very late into the night, we went to Mad River, which is another restaurant turned into nightclub at night. The crowd there is very young and as it was so late, we only were there for maybe an hour until closing. One guy tried talking to my sister and I, but we couldn't hear anything due to the loud music.

This is the point in the night were I was the sober wingwoman.

At closing time, my sister's 7 year roommate disappeared to talk to an old high school friend so my sister and I were chased outside by the bouncers. The one bouncer was cute, and was taking a while to talk to my sister. I noticed this and asked her if she had a business card on her. She hadn't and she lost that opportunity.

However, just right after we got done talking to the bouncer, a clean cut guy comes up to both of us and asks "Hey ladies, do you want to grab a cocktail?" We looked at him, and were a little wary because we agreed earlier that we were going to hang out with the roommate and her boyfriend and his roommate at his apartment. The guy then said that there was this after hours club in Rittenhouse that we could go to. We demurred and he was persistent.

At this point I was trying to get the boy to go away and asked him for his license. The boy was born in 1982. I felt really old.

He had a friend with him who soon entered into the conversation, trying to get us to go with them. The friend started to ask me questions, "hey tell your friend to come with us." and I told him that we were sisters. He looked at us and said "no way" and then complimented me on my hair and then started stroking it!

After a few more minutes of back and forth, and the friend got grumpy since he realized that we weren't going anywhere, so he and I started to end the conversation between my sister and the boy. My sister did give the boy her phone number, because as it turned out, the boy was going to Ft. Lauderdale in a few weeks for a bachelor party and his friend (the one who stroked my hair) lived there and worked at the same bars my sister frequents.

Eventually, the roommate came out of the bar and we left to hang with her. But not before her 25 year old boyfriend spazzed because she took so long. He was also very drunk and so that took a good 15 minutes to calm down. So there were were, being driven by my sister's roommate to the apartment near South Street.

We arrived at the boys apartment and ended up talking with people who dropped by and drinking natty light. It was about 2:30 am at this point. We talked about college friends, about the family life of this one guy who was sitting there - he was a twin and one of 8 kids of a Philly fireman, about the fact that the boyfriend wanted to make people laugh at his future wedding someday (that was so cute!). But most of the talk centered on this one girl who came by earlier who the boyfriend's roommate hooked up with and then she announced she "liked girls". The boys were aghast at that and couldn't stop talking about it.

One by one, people passed out until it was me and the boyfriend's roommate talking. And by talking, I mean I totally mocked his music collection and then got into a conversation with him about going to law school. And I found out that his mom still does his laundry. At 5:30am or so, he comes up to the couch I was sitting on and tries to kiss me. I was like "No" and pushed him away. And at that point, he took it like a man and said that he was going to bed and it was ok for me to sleep on the couch. As if I wasn't going to anyway, as my sister was totally passed out at that point.

So, hey, a cute 25 year old boy made a move on me. I was not complaining.

I woke up (if you could call it that since the college roommate kept on waking up and going to the bathroom during the night) at around 8 and really wanted to leave, so I woke up my sister and we booked it out of there.

Didn't get home until 9:30 am on Saturday, and that included a walk of shame down South Street to the parking garage, a stop at Wawa and helping out a tourist couple from NC find Independence Hall.

Saturday I picked up LO from her friend's sleepover and went back to my apartment and crashed until it was time to get ready for my brother's party. The party was perfect. My brother was definitely surprised, my parents made it and there was no fuss. They also learned that they will be grandparents again and my Mom had a big smile on her face. The S-i-L kept in charge of everything but she looked tired. She's 3 months in, and is still having morning sickness. My Dad became acquainted with the margarita machine, thinking that it was for "slushees". I stayed until about 11pm last night, until LO was going nuts because she was the only kid there and I was beat. Since my sister was beating the pants off of my brother's friends playing beer pong, she got to stay the night at my brother's place.

Today, my brother to brought my sister over to the apartment so she could get readied and packed and I and LO could take her to the airport. After a bit of a hair raising ride on 476, with one old guy swerving around, I drove my sister to the airport.

After dropping my sister off, LO and I have had a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon. I don't want to go to go to work tomorrow.

However, I will have the opportunity to be a wingwoman on Friday. Looking forward to that. ;-)

And the boy who got my sister's number did call on Saturday and ask if we wanted to go to a party at his place. My sister is blowing it off, but I think she's secretly impressed...she comes home to Philly for one weekend and gets hit on. ;-)

Also, please to be reducing your use of the word "cute". It's getting too cute -- er...
